After the fiasco that was 2020 I wanted to start the New Year on a
positive note with a few things we can do to promote joy ,well-being and prosperity in our everyday lives with a few of the elements from the teachings of Feng-Shui. It’s complete existence is for peace, balance and success in life. This mean success in family life and relationships which is one type of prosperity as well as the financial kind in your career or business. You may already be familiar with the ancient art of feng shui, (pronounced fung shway).
It goes deep and there is actually a involved but what I’ll be sharing is just the tip of the iceberg, to give you a lot to this art. I’d just like to give you basic understanding of what feng shui is and how to use it in your life for love, luck and prosperity . However if you want to learn more I suggest reading books and articles on Feng Shui. There is so much to learn. I actually learned about it years ago and it really intrigued me. If you want know if it works. I have a theory if you believe something works it probably will and you don’t it probably won’t. For the skeptics I always say give it a try with an open mind.
What is Feng Shui ?
Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art derived from the Chinese religion Taoism “The Way.” but it is not a religion. There are 3 types. First there’s Compass or Lo Pan which relies on a compass with up to 64 rings of information. There are consultants in China preform this traditional service relying heavily on superstition. The second type of Feng-Shui is directional or Pah Kwa sometimes spelled ‘Bagua’ which makes us of the directions your house faces to receive information as well as divide the house into 8 areas of enrichment.
I’ll be discussing mostly what practiced in American culture. This is Intuitive or Ying Yang Feng Shui which deals with the way energy flows in and around your home and how you fit in with that energy. I first thought it was about where to place your furniture for good luck and positive energy to circulate through your home but it is so much more. I discovered that all of these forms of Feng-Shui seem to overlap and intermingle with each other.
Smudging to clear out negative energy
This is burning a bundle of sage and it’s also called saging and is not feng shui its origins are Native American. It involves energy and is on topic with feng shui. I wanted to start out this year with a saging to clear out negative energy from 2020. I bought 3 bundles of white sage from Amazon but there many sellers to chose from just google it. You light sage and wave into all you rooms with windows open to allow the exit of the negative energy.
Another easy way to cleanse the energy in a room you spend lots of time is to place to teaspoons or white vinegar and salt in a clear glass of water let it sit for 24 hours in a place out of sight. (Some sources say sea salt and varying amounts on salt and vinegar )The salt will rise to the top, the water will turn opaque if there is negative energy there if there is not a change in the water the energy is ok.
Before we go any further I want you to understand Chi`= Cosmic life force=Energy is what everything is made of. This chi`that is present in your home should be able to circulate freely. Blocked chi` causes stagnation in life. One of the things that causes it is you clutter and junk in the home. Since I consider myself somewhat of an expert on this top one day I may blog about but for now all I can I say is : Throw away or give away everything you have no use for,or sell it. It’s not only for beauty and neatness sake but to attract new luck and opportunity into your life.
Practicing Feng Shui
The are eight sections of your home like as octagon shape represents areas of enrichment in your life. There is also a direction it corresponds with and a animal symbol according to Chinese astrology . The directions represent the best placement for success. I find that sometime the placement and directions on theses charts can be different so for now I’m going to stick with the basics and not get into the charts too deep. There are many simple ways to practice feng shui without being an expert . I decided to focus on the intuitive or Yin – Yang study of feng-shui which is used more in America that the other methods.
Outside of Your Home
A poison arrow is a straight path to your door which is very common ,a circular path or curved one is better, A remedy is a 5 rod metal windchime.
A tree blocking your view is bad feng shui and should be removed .
A water feature is a lucky symbol outside your door but not on both sides because stands for tears.
Plants attract yang energy to surround your home. Healthy plants at the East and Southeast or your garden bring wealth and good luck.
A pair of Fu Dogs are a protection for every kind of bad luck. They are actually guardian lions that resemble the Shih-Tzu and Chow Chow

Yin and Yang
In the Taoist philosophy everything is either yin or yang, or a combination or a combination of both it is often thought of as masculine or feminine energy. As the teaching goes the Great Cosmos Energy was generated and gave birth to the heavens Yang and the earth Yin. Ch’i flows between them both. Flowing back and forth from spirit to matter. The yang principle is seen ans male while yin is seen as the female principle. They aren’t opposites sides instead more like two parts of the same whole.
